What is MySAEBRS/SAEBRS?

MySAEBRS/SAEBRS is a quick screening tool used by schools to help identify students who may need additional support socially, emotionally, or academically. It is only given to students whose parents or guardians have provided consent.

Why is this important?

Over 70% of Kansas schools use MySAEBRS/SAEBRS to help spot potential barriers to learning. The results are just one piece of information that helps teachers provide the right support and instruction in the classroom.

 

What to expect:

  • Takes about 5 minutes

  • Completed on the student’s individual device

  • No personal information is collected

  • Participation is always optional – Students are told they can choose not to take the survey and will not be penalized in any way.

Example questions include:
Students are asked to rate how often the following statements apply to them:

  • I argue with others.

  • I get along with my peers.

  • I lose my temper.

  • I disrupt class.

  • I am respectful.

  • Other people like me.

  • I have trouble waiting my turn.

  • I like school.

  • I am ready for class.

  • I get good grades.

  • I have trouble working alone.

  • It’s hard to pay attention in class.

  • I participate in class.

  • I feel sad.

  • I feel nervous.

  • I like to try new things.

  • I am happy.

  • I am worried.

  • When something bad happens, it takes me a while to feel better.

  • I like being alone.

 

Answer choices:
Students respond using one of four options:
