Bond Issue FAQs
Q: What is the total cost of the bond project?
If approved by voters, USD 261 is requesting authority to finance $79,725,000 in bond funds.
Q: Will the bond issue result in a tax increase for property owners residing within the Haysville school district?
The USD 261 Board of Education is committed to meeting the capital improvement needs with no increase in the Bond and Interest Mill Rate.
Q: What specific projects are slated for funding through the bond issue?
A bond project will finance a range of capital projects aimed at enhancing the safety, functionality, and learning environment of our schools. These include, but are not limited to:
- Roof replacements and repairs to prevent leaks and water damage
- Upgrades to HVAC systems to improve air quality and energy efficiency
- Parking lot maintenance
- Playground improvements
- Interior finishes to schools throughout the district
- Addition of a Career and Tech Education Center at Campus High School
- Improvements to District Extracurricular Facilities (replace turf at Colts Stadium, replacement of track surface at Colts Stadium, upgrade to lighting system at Colts Stadium, and other needed improvements to district extracurricular facilities)
Q: Is the district planning to construct a new school with the bond funds?
No, the bond proceeds will be exclusively allocated to address critical repairs and renovations within the current district facilities. However, the district is proposing the addition of a Career and Technology Education facility to Campus High School.
Q: Why can't the board utilize district funds to complete these projects?
The scope and scale of the required repairs and upgrades exceed the financial capacity of the district’s current Capital Outlay Budget. A bond issue is necessary to secure the funding required to complete these essential projects.
Q: How will these projects benefit students, staff, and the community at large?
By addressing critical infrastructure needs, the bond projects are targeted at enhancing the safety, functionality, and learning environment for our students.
Q: Where can I learn more about USD 261 capital needs?
We encourage all community members to visit our district's website (www.usd261.com ) for up-to-date information about the capital improvement needs of the district. More information will be added as we proceed through this process.
Q: If the bond election is successful, when will construction begin? When will the community expect to see the work completed?
The planning phase will take approximately 6-9 months, and construction will begin in the Fall of 2025. It is projected that all projects will be completed by the Fall of 2028.
Q: What is the registration deadline if I am not currently registered but want to vote in this election?
