Parents & Students

Welcome to Haysville Public Schools, where we are committed to ensuring every student has access to an innovative and robust learning experience from birth through graduation. Our goal is to prepare all students to successfully navigate the workforce or pursue post-secondary opportunities with confidence. The district works hard to maintain a positive culture that is welcoming to all members of the community by providing a student-centered learning environment focused on building strong relationships and promoting a positive school experience for every student. Whether you’re new to the district or a long-time member of our school community, we’re glad you’re here and look forward to partnering with you in your child’s education.

School Closings & Emergency Notifications

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Our district uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) from the I Love U Guys Foundation to provide a clear, consistent response to all types of emergencies. Students and staff regularly practice these procedures to ensure safety and preparedness.

SRP Actions

  • Hold – Students remain in their classroom or area; learning continues.

  • Secure – Everyone moves inside and exterior doors are locked due to a concern outside the building.

  • Lockdown – Used only for an active threat inside or near the building; doors locked, lights off, out of sight.

  • Evacuate – Students and staff move to a designated location.

  • Shelter – Safety actions are taken for hazards such as severe weather or environmental concerns.

Parent Guidance

During an incident, families may be asked not to come to the school immediately, as student release may not be safe or possible. Communication will be shared as appropriate, and reunification will occur once conditions allow.

When weather conditions or emergencies make it necessary to close schools, Haysville Public Schools will notify families through:

  • District Website

  • Television & Radio Announcements (see below)

Please ensure your contact information in PowerSchool is always up to date so your child’s school can reach you when needed.

TV Stations

Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA/ESSA)

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), provides federal funding to support student learning and academic success. These funds are used to strengthen instruction, support teachers, and provide additional services for students who need extra assistance, including through Title I and other federal programs. In Kansas, ESEA/ESSA programs are administered by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) in partnership with local school districts, including USD 261. Families who have concerns regarding the use of federal education funds may contact the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Hotline using the link below.
