About USD 261
At Haysville USD 261, we blend the personal touch of a small-town school system with the high standards and opportunities of a larger district. As the 18th largest district in Kansas, we’re proud to offer our students top-tier staff, strong academics, and well-equipped facilities—all while maintaining a close, caring community.

Located in south-central Sedgwick County, our district spans 36 square miles and serves a diverse mix of students from both urban and rural backgrounds. This diversity strengthens our schools and enriches the learning experience for all.
Our curriculum is designed to challenge and support every learner. With a focus on core subjects like reading, math, science, and social studies, our academic programs meet Kansas state standards and reflect current best practices in education. We prioritize safe, welcoming schools and early support to ensure each student gets what they need to thrive.

Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase District
Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) was first introduced to staff in Haysville USD 261 in 2012. Since then, district administrators have committed to investing in teacher training and growing a culture that is built on relationship building. As a result, students are greeted daily at each class and are encouraged to share good things happening in their lives. Knowing students on a personal level builds trust which can lead to better attendance, academic progress and a safer school environment.
Four years ago, CKH began recognizing and celebrating districts that go the extra mile by naming them a Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase District. Haysville USD 261 was the first school in the nation to receive this award and is the only district to win this award more than once. To be eligible for this honor, every school in the district must be nominated and later selected as a showcase school.
National Blue Ribbon Schools
Haysville USD 261 is home to three National Blue Ribbon Schools; Campus High School (2013), Oatville Elementary (2014), and Ruth Clark Elementary (2017).
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes and honors schools based on their overall academic excellence or that made significant progress in closing the achievement gap among student subgroups. The program also recognizes schools whose students achieve in the top 15 percent.
The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. The Blue Ribbon award is considered the highest honor an American school can achieve.
