Haysville Public Schools offers a virtual program for students in grades 3-12 who would like to try another learning option other than in-person school. If you would like to learn more about this program, please watch the short informational video below.

If you'd like to reserve your child(ren)'s spot for 1st semester, please fill out the Google Form linked below. We will be accepting responses through Friday, August 1st.

USD 261 Virtual Learning Program

In this video, Dr. Jennifer Reed explains our virtual learning program at Haysville Public Schools for students in grades 3 through 12. Students in grades 3 to 7 will have a teacher from Greenbush Virtual Learning Academy, while those in grades 8 to 12 will work more independently, committing about 25 hours of schoolwork each week. It's important to note that virtual learning is a semester commitment, and students must take required tests, including the Kansas State Assessments. If you're interested in enrolling your child, please ensure they are registered with Haysville Public Schools and provide proof of Kansas residency. hello this video will help you understand how the virtual program works in hazeville public schools our virtual learning program is for students in grades 3 through 12 who are enrolled in Hayesville public schools students in grades 3 through 7 will have a teacher through the Green Bush virtual Learning Academy Greenbush is the program we partner with to offer virtual learning these students will meet with their teacher online during the week the teacher will help them learn new lessons and activities at other times students will use a program called Edgenuity to watch lessons and do assignments online for students in grades 8 through 12 they work more on their own they do not have set class times they can work anytime during the day or evening but should plan to do about 25 hours of schoolwork each week they will have teachers they can contact during ing office hours for help they will also have an academic coach who works with the school counselors to set up classes and monitor their progress the coach will help students pick the right classes to stay on track for graduation and checks their progress through during the semester please remember that virtual learning is a semester commitment if you choose virtual learning and later decide it's not the best fit for your child they can return to in-person school at the end of the semester so that means they would either return to school in January or then in the fall in August if it's second semester you cannot switch back and forth during the semester if your child has an IEP or receive special education services those services will continue while they learn virtually please let us know about your child's IEP when you sign up so can work with the Special Education team to meet their needs all students must still take required tests whether they learn in-person or virtually all students take fastbridge reading and math tests 3 times a year these tests can be done online at home and you will get an email time is to take them along with instructions students in grades 3 through 8 10 and 11 must also take the Kansas State assessments these tests cover reading math science and social studies depending on the grade some of these tests can be done at home if your internet is good enough but you can also bring your child to school to test in person in the spring usually in April testing is very important if students do not take the required tests they may have to return to in-person learning if this all sounds good and you would like to enroll in our virtual program first you need to enroll your child in Hayesville public schools and pay any enrollment fees you will also need to provide proof of Kansas residency within the 2025 school year please fill out the Google form linked to this email to save your spot once you do this somebody from Greenbush will email you they will help you set up an Edgenuity account and schedule an orientation if you're new to the program if you don't have a Chromebook at home we can lend you 1 you can pick it up from the administration building at 1745 West Grand in Hayesville we're open Monday through Thursday 8 to 4 our schools are currently closed for the summer so if you have any questions please call the Dr John Burke Learning Center and ask for the director penny schekman at 31655 4 2331 you can also call the administration building and ask for Jennifer Reid at 31655422000 we hope this video helped you learn more about our virtual learning program and we look forward to working with your child thank you
