  • What is Parents as teachers
  • What is Bridge to Bright Beginnings?
Parents as Teachers is a research-driven program that arms parents with the information they need to prepare their young children for success in school and in life. The program includes monthly home visits with a certified birth to 3 educator, parent-child group activities, family outings  and yearly developmental screenings.  Any family residing in U.S.D. #261 who is expecting a child or has a child from birth to age 3 is eligible to participate in the free Parents as Teachers program.  Sign up today by calling 554-2303.
The Bridge to Bright Beginnings class is a parent-child class for children who have turned 3 and are no longer eligible for Parents as Teachers.  Children attend a once-a-week structured class with a parent or other adult caregiver.  In the class and in at-home assignments, children work on mastering the state standards for 3-year-olds in fun effective ways.  Cost for the class is only $10 and, while slots are limited, anyone in U.S.D. #261 with a 3-year-old is eligible to participate.  Call 554-2303 to enroll.

BRIDGE TO BRIGHT BEGINNINGS
We still have a few openings in our 3-year-old Bridge to Bright Beginnings parent/child participation class on Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings or Thursday mornings. The class has routines and schedules similar to any preschool class. It meets once a week and will include "homework" that the parent and child can do throughout the week prior to the next class. Call the PAT office to enroll in these classes.

MOVE & GROOVE
Move & Groove meets on Mondays at Haysville Community Library (130 W. Grand). This popular class incorporates music, movement, instrument exploration and fun while kids are learning language and listening skills! Parent participation is required. Please wear comfortable clothes and be ready to move!

BOOK LOOK CLUB
Book Look Club will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 at the various elementary schools in the district (see the calendar for specifics).
