Get Involved!

We encourage parents to be actively involved in the education of their child /children. A couple opportunities in this area are serving on our Site Council and/or on the P.T.A.. Our Site Council is an advisory group that will have the first meeting for the year on Wednesday, September 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center. The first P.T.A. meeting will be a General meeting on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. We invite everyone out to these opportunities. Learn more about "Your School" and
participate in the important decision making processes.

All students will get their picture taken for the yearbook. Packets are available for purchase, just send your order back to school in the packet provided.

 

School Hours

A reminder that school hours are from 8:30 AM - 3:35 PM. There is no adult supervision available for students until 8:00 AM unless you participate in Latchkey services. In the morning students who arrive prior to 8:20 AM should enter through the front doors and go to the gym. Afternoon kindergarteners who do not eat lunch at school should not be dropped off until 12:45 PM. Thank you for your cooperation on these matters.

 

Wednesday Folders

We will be sending all regular weekly communications home in Wednesday Folders. Please be sure to check the contents of the folder each week, sign that you have viewed them, and then return the folder promptly on Thursday. If you represent an organization which may be sending notes home with students, please be sure these notes are approved for distribution by the central office and that they arrive at school before Monday to be sent home on a Wednesday.

 

Family Rights and Privacy Act

As in the past, USD 261 will be releasing information and photos to the media throughout the coming school year of various activities and programs. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, disclosure without prior consent is permitted by law, including the following directory information: name, address, telephone number, and photographs. You have the right to refuse to permit the release of any or all of the above information. If you refuse, you must give written notification to this effect to the Superintendent of Schools for USD 261, 1745 West Grand, Haysville, KS 67060 on or before Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010. If refusal is not filed, USD 261 assumes there is no objection to the release of the information designated or photos.
