Community
Haysville is a community located in south central Kansas, two miles south of Wichita. Its population is 8,364 people; however, Haysville Unified School District 261 serves a much larger population. Within a three-mile radius of the center of the city, there are approximately 19,000 inhabitants in this urban/rural setting. Haysville Middle School lies in the center of the city and is fed by four public schools Freeman, Rex, Nelson, Oatville and Ruth Clark. Students graduating from Haysville Middle School attend Campus High School, located just south of the Wichita city limits.
The community of Haysville is growing. Future projections place the population of the city alone at 19,700 by the year 2010. This does not include the tremendous growth in the outlying areas of the district, particularly in the Oatville area. As a result of this growth, U.S.D. #261 reopened Freeman School in 1986 as a fifth/sixth grade attendance center. Further growth resulted in a restructuring of the district. In 1991, an addition of twenty-one classrooms and a multipurpose room was added to Haysville Junior High to accommodate all sixth graders in the community. Freeman and all other elementary schools then became K-5 attendance centers. At that time Haysville Junior High officially became Haysville Middle School.

As soon as a student completes their individual plan, they are promoted back into their age appropriate grade level.
