What's Happening

CHS offers many venues for parents and patrons to check out what is happening at school. Along with this website, a monthly newsletter and school calendar is available on the web, and daily announcements are posted here. We invite and welcome you to our events.

Parent Meetings

The CHS Counseling Center will be hosting parent meetings for the sophomores, juniors and seniors on the dates listed below. The meetings will be held in the new CHS Auditorium The CHS Counselors will be providing important information for you and your student regarding the upcoming school year along with an overview of the important dates and events for the year. Please plan to attend. Each meeting will be held at 7:00 in the CHS auditorium. If you have questions, please contact your student’s counselor at 316-554-2240.

Back to School Dance - August 29

Make plans now to attend the Back to School Dance, Friday, August 29, from 9:00 - 11:00 PM in the CHS Commons.  This dance is open to CHS students only - no guest passes will be issued.

 

Student Pictures - August 18

All students in grades 9 - 11 will have yearbook pictures taken. 

 

FERPA - Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

DIRECTORY INFORMATION: For purposes of FERPA, USD 261 has designated certain information contained in educational records as directory information which may be disclosed for any purpose without your consent. The following information is considered directory information: name; address; telephone number; date and place of birth; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; weight and height of members of athletic teams; dates of attendance; degrees and awards received; the most recent previous school attended by the student; class designation; major field of study; and photographs.
Directory information may be used by the District in several ways, but are not limited to district publications such as yearbooks and brochures, honor roll lists, playbills, website, news releases to media, advertisements/marketing activities; video and newsletters.
If you do not want USD 261 to disclose directory information from your child’s education records, you must notify the District in writing by August 25, 2014. Send such notification to: Superintendent of Schools, 1745 W. Grand, Haysville, KS 67060. If refusal is not filed, USD 261 assumes there is no objection to the release of the directory information as designated. Annual notification is given per District policy JRB approved by BOE on July 21, 2014. Learn more....
